Cruise Night At Fricano’s Pizza in Grand Rapids, MI

SCOOTER went to a cruise night that happens on Tuesdays, on Alpine Avenue near 5 mile road in the north end of Grand Rapids, Michigan a few weeks ago, and let me tell you this simple little "cruise-night" is cool enough to think it's a full fledged CAR SHOW! Or to clone another popular saying, "There was this cruise night happening and a CAR SHOW broke out"!
Check this out. There was over 100 cars. Including old Vettes, Mustangs, custom lead sleds, muscle cars, stock restored cars & trucks, street rods, rat rods, pro street machines and even vintage motorcycles. Doug Fricano and his family are already famous for pizza in west Michigan.
Then Doug decided to try a Tuesday cruise night to boost week night business at this location a couple of times last year. Well, he got so into it after that, that he went out and bought a a muscle car himself, a 69 Cougar. And this year Doug has become a mover and shaker in the local area car scene. He has hired Mike at Music Memories with his Elvis tribute and complete DJ services to play music & do announcing of the cruise night party. Doug, himself is always out in FRICANO'S parking lot with his apron on, talking car stuff, and in general throwing out the welcome mat to all of us old car nuts.
At Fricano's you can park your ride, go inside, soak up the air conditioning, order pizza and any kind of drink, or take your pizza out side. Then you're able to be with your car and eat setting in your lawn chairs. And he does give out door prizes if you want to register for free. Doug has had signs done to ask for "show cars only" in this area. And it has been met with complete acceptance by civilian vehicle owners. And the cherry on the top of this hot fudge Sunday is...... pay attention here car gals and guys............. The private black-top drive going out back is the staging area for all of the burn outs you'd ever want to do! Complete with pre-PA announcement of the specs of the car /motor doing the burn out! FAR OUT DOUG! Again, I mean there are a very limited number of BIG car shows that can get it together enough to have burn outs, let alone this little (not any more), cruise night at FRICANOS! Come join the fun, I love it! SCOOTER.
