THE ULTIMATE CLASSIC CAR MARKETPLACE

DAVE & ED’S CANFIELD SWAP MEET DELIVERS YET ANOTHER BIG PUNCH AS NEARLY 30,000 SPECTATORS POUR INTO THE FAIRGROUNDS!

The game goes on, and on and on and on. To many, that’s exactly what this hobby is••--a game. It’s about having some fun and making a buck while you’re doing it.

That’s why many old car enthusiasts flock to Canfield, OH (located in the Youngstown, OH area) where one of the nation’s best auto swap meets take place: Dave & Ed’s Super Auto Events.

When you arrive at one of Dave & Ed’s Swap Meets, you are immediately overwhelmed and taken in by the massive number of vendors and mountains of parts that seem to pour down on you like an avalanche in the dead cold winter. Only this time, it’s Spring, and it’s time to get back to work in our garages to get these old clunkers fixed up so we can hit up some car shows and cruises for the summertime.

Dave & Ed’s Canfield Swap Meet is just the place to get started. This show is the ultimate classic car marketplace. “There is no buying without seeing here,” says Dave Ehret, co-founder and owner of Dave & Ed’s Super Auto Events. “At our shows, you can see and inspect what you are getting, negotiate the price, and receive help from our staff to load your parts into your vehicle!”

Dave Ehret and Ed Nelson have been hosting the Canfield Swap Meet for 16 years now. And, in their 23-year history, they have hosted over 100 shows total! These guys are successful with their shows because they bring hard work and a big smile to a fun and clean atmostphere.

“You know, our staff works really hard and they bring a big smile to the shows,” Ehret explained. “Even though it poured the rain down this time, everyone had a good time.”

And, rain it did. Saturday seemed as if it would be a washout--only it wasn’t. That’s because these car enthusiasts are hardcore. They come out and wait in line around 6 a.m., well before the gates open, which is around 8 a.m.

Nearly 30,000 spectators attended the swap meet this spring and about 3,000 vendors were on hand.
The reason Dave & Ed’s shows are the best is because of the quality of the shows. “We keep our prices down and our quality high,” Ehret proudly stated. Indeed, where else can you spend $5.00 a day or $7.00 for the weekend to attend a swap meet like this?! Not only that, but the staff will haul your parts off for free and a free notary service is also available!

The weekend was filled with fun, as we met the good folks from the Red Man tobacco company.

I also ran into Rod & Denise of Hot Rod’s Classic Truck Parts. They had a heck of a fun weekend and sold many parts and had many pre-orders. If you need help with your 1948-1956 Ford Truck and need parts, call 1-800-236-0046 or visit http://www.hotrodstrucks.biz.

I also ran into Rosenberry’s Classic Chevy Parts, who was formely Tom Sondles Classic Chevy Parts. They specialize in 1955-1957 Chevy Parts, so give those guys a call at 330-878-1957 or 330-343-5755 or visit http://www.rosenberrys.com.

Old friends kept swinging by all weekend as we gave away thousands of Auto Round-Up Magazines. Friends like Jim Beck of Uniontown, PA stopped by. Also, John Hirt, who was the very first Round-Up Wrangler, came by to pickup some extra copies to give away.

Of course, on the other side of the coin, I ran into a little trouble. One guy brought up a chainsaw and slammed it one on of the tables underneath our booth. Then, five minutes later, a odd-looking fellow was carrying a very thick rope that he explained was used to “hang things up with.” So, as Saturday afternoon turned into weirdness, I decided to ask Betty Soloman for security over dinner that night! Thanks again for the wonderful dinner!

Well, before I knew it, it was over again. It was time to hit the road and cruise on down to the next game I could find.

As far as Dave & Ed’s goes, the 2008 season will continue with the Canfield Swap Meet on on July 18-20, and September 12-14. The Pro-Formance Meet will finish off the season on November 8-9.

A big thank you goes out to the hard workers of the Dave & Ed’s team! Keep up the great work!
