CRUISING FOR CHARITY AT THIS YEAR'S SYRACUSE NATIONALS
Syracuse, NY…Cruisers at this year’s Syracuse Nationals will have the opportunity to earn as much as $4,000 for their favorite charities while they enjoy the sights and sounds of the 9th annual edition of the event, set for July 18-20, on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY.
Show organizers, the Right Coast Association, have set up a cruise route consisting of a one mile loop around the perimeter road which runs just inside the fence line on the fairgrounds. Cruising will take place from 7 to 9 pm both Friday and Saturday nights.
A check for $1,000, in the name of the cruiser who makes the most circuits each night, will be sent to that person’s charity of choice. Second place each night will earn a $500 charity check. The third place cruiser each night will earn $250 for their favorite cause. All charities must be designated and registered as 501(C3) organizations. The club with the most cruisers each night will also earn a $250 check for charity.
Special arrangements have been made for those with heavy right feet. The cruise route runs past the event burnout pad and cruisers will receive credit for two circuits of the loop for each burnout they perform. All cruiser-designated charities must be 501(C3) registered.
The Syracuse Nationals is the largest show of its type in the northeast and is among the top five largest in the country. Since the first Syracuse Nationals in 2000, the event has grown steadily. The 2007 show attracted 6,840 cars from 40 states and more than 78,000 participants.
Bob O’Connor, Right Coast Association president said, “The Nationals has generated more than $230,000 for a variety charitable and community organizations over the last eight years. One of our goals, when we started the show in 2000, was to give back to the community and, with the help of thousands of Nationals participants, exhibitors and sponsors, we have done just that. This year’s charity cruise will be just one of the ways we will raise money for good causes at the 2008 show.”
