1st Annual Winstar Casino's Classic Car & Custom Rod Show

WOW! AWESOME! The first annual “Classic Car & Custom Rod Show” sponsored by the “Winstar Casinos” is now history and what a success. The entries ranged from the “ole” Rat Rods to the breathtaking Custom show cars. The number of entries totaled over 200 and the door prizes they were eligible for were fantastic.

The weather was ideal and the facilities were absolutely perfect. The Winstar Casino is operated by the Chickasaw Indian nation. The facilities offer a lot of room for such an event. There was a lot of designated area for entrants to park their trailers and tow vehicles along with a lot of space available between the show cars. To add a little more peace of mind for the participants, there was a lot of security to make sure that their cars didn't get scratched by the spectators.

To make the day pass pleasantly, their DJ was more than adequate, even though his handle was “Adequate Al, your music Pal”. Of course he had a lot trivia questions that involved cars as well as music of the 60's and 70's. Coincidentally, the Casino had booked “Credence Clearwater Revisited” for Saturday.

Some of the door prizes were from O'Reilys Auto Parts, Auto Zone, WalMart, and numerous local businesses and they ranged from $50.00 to $1000. To add a little more spice to the available door prizes, two Carnival Cruise trips were also awarded. As if the door prizes weren't enough, the Best of Show prize was enough to grenade the best of rebuilt engines. A new 27 Ford street rod had been built by Joe's Rod Shop of Branson Missouri just for this event.

Trophies were awarded to the first three places in all of the classes, with a total of twenty different competition classes. The classes were very well defined and the judging was conducted by persons who were not affiliated with the Casino.

Mr. Mark Reasoner, marketing manager for the Winstar Casino, has indicated that the show for 2008 will be even bigger and better. With the enthusiasm and interest from all of the entrants and spectators at this years show, they will start planning for the 2008 show next week. It will be held the weekend before Memorial Day weekend so mark your calendar and start making plans now for the 2008 show.
