1964 Rambler Ambassador

1964 Rambler Ambassador by Greg Zyla

Q: I have a 1964 Rambler Ambassador 4-door sedan with the V8 engine. It has automatic and is in good condition with 95,000 miles. I know the Ramblers aren't worth as much as the other more collectible cars, but I'd like a fair value on this car's worth. Thank you very much, Trudy K, email from Florida.

A: Trudy, you might be correct that the Rambler doesn't command some of the top prices for collector cars, but I still like what you have in your garage! Your car is worth from $1,500 to $5,000 depending on condition as judged by a professional collector. If the car is as nice as you say, with no rust (Florida cars are noted for no rust) and straight body panels, you might fetch on the higher side of the equation. I've always enjoyed the Rambler in all forms, especially the American Station Wagons, Ambassadors like yours, AMX (some go for over $20,000), Javelin, Rebel and Hurst S/C. Take good care of that Rambler as I feel in the future, if the economy improves, so will the pricing of your car.
