GMC Blazer
GMC Blazer by Greg Zyla
Q: I own a 1977 GMC Blazer (Jimmy) that is still in good running condition. It has 100,000 miles on it, and I put a new transmission in it in 1994. I also have brand new large tires on it, so can you give me a fair market value? Ruth Johnson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
A: Be glad to Ruth. If it's a 2-wheel drive Blazer, look for about $3,000. If it's the 4x4, I'd ask in the neighborhood of $3,400. These prices are based on the assumption that the truck is in good and drivable condition needing no or just minor work to be driven home and enjoyed. Now, if your Blazer is in better shape than this, you might be able to command more, like $5,300 and $5,800, respectively. You have to decide which condition your Blazer is in, and if everything is really in good condition and it looks great from 20-feet away, then look for the higher amounts. Good luck with the Blazer, and let me know if you sell it.
