Neat 1967 Cougar

Neat 1967 Cougar by Greg Zyla

Q: Greg, in June of 1967 I purchased a brand new 2-door 1967 Cougar hardtop for $3563. Its' color is Lime Frost green and the upholstery is Ivy Gold. It presently has 84,390 miles on it and has been repainted and reupholstered in the original colors. It has a V-8 engine and a standard 3-speed transmission. I was wondering what my Cougar is worth as several people have offered to purchase it. Thank you for your help. Tom H. in Kansas.

A: Tom, your '67 Cougar 2-door hardtop sounds to be in very nice shape. Cars from the Sixties continue to escalate in price, especially pony cars like yours and the high-performance models. Even though you don't mention whether your Cougar is the XR-7 model, the difference in price is only $400 to $1,000, depending on condition. Your car sounds like a well kept original that would fetch in the neighborhood of a low of $3,600 to a high of $7,000 in it present condition. My personal opinion would be to start at the upper range of $6,500 to and work from there. A pristine, off-frame restoration of this car would put it in the $9,000 and up range, so use this price as a guideline.
