Indoor Show Heaven
By Dave Kelly
The 22nd annual East Coast Indoor Nationals Car and Custom Motorcycle Invitational show is in the bag. To say that this show was the best ever in its 22 years is an understatement. Nearly 300 hot rods, customs, antiques, muscle cars, trucks, pro-street, nostalgia drag cars and custom motorcycles from Maine to North Carolina were in attendance.
These were the best show cars and motorcycles the East Coast has to offer. There was something for everyone along with a huge marketplace for car parts to jewelry and everything in between. The live auction raised $10,250 and the 50/50 raffle was $6,300 to the winner and an equal amount to the recipient charity, Toys for Tots. In all, David and Nancy Cohen wrote a check for nearly $26,000 and collected nearly 1,000 toys with the help of local car clubs, Street Cars of Desire, Ghost Ryderz, and Street Survivors.
Total payout for the winners of the show was a whopping $10,000! Best of Show and a check for $2,000 was awarded to “Limoncello”, a 1936 Ford Street Rod out of North Massapequa, NY, owned by Bill Raso. Best Custom Motorcycle was won by Fred and Penny Waltz of Springmills, PA with their 2009 full custom Harley and received a $500 check.
The East Coast Indoor National Invitational has aligned with the Motorama show in Harrisburg, PA and the North East Rod and Custom Show in Oaks, PA. to create the Triple Crown Award. Basically, if you attend all three shows, each of the three promoters will pick a vehicle for the Triple Crown Award which will include a check for $400, a Triple Crown Award jacket, and award plaque. The winners will be chosen at the North East Rod and Custom Show in Oaks, PA. March 24-25, 2012. The cars must be pre-1973 and the custom bikes can be any year. All vehicles must be American made.
